So I've never taken federal student aid before. I've always paid my own way.
However, when it finally came time for me to apply, I don't qualify. Why? I apparently have to many credit hours. I'm in a program now and have two semesters left before graduation, and cant get a student loan or a Pell Grant!
They even count credit hours from more than 20 years ago! Apparently they can't be used to help me graduate because they are too old (which I understand), but they sure count against me when I need financial aid!!!!! This system is totally screwed up.
It was apparently designed to stop people from being perpetual students, great! But there needs to be some kind of appeals process for people who have a genuine need and aren't just perpetual students!!!
